OAKWOOD ART KITS!
Oakwood Arts worked with local artists and educators to create art lessons to help fuel your creativity, stay connected to your school, and share different cool careers in the arts and media!
Every other week, OA provides 2nd-5th grade students at the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club with an Oakwood Art Kit packet containing all the materials and instructions needed to complete a creative hands-on project. OA Community Programs Director Liana Elguero and OA Instructor-In-Residence Sam Page virtually lead the students through the week’s activity with the occasional drop-in from a local guest artist. In order to maximize participation, each corresponding week, we also make and distribute 50 additional kits that are available for community members to pick up at the OA Park Giving Library or check out the prompts posted on our website.
Stop by and grab a kit! You can stop by our Giving Library at our new Outdoor Learning Park and grab a new Art Kitevery other week, with all the instructions and art supplies you will need for a fun project! 3511 P Street Richmond, VA

HISTORY OF OUR ART KIT PROJECT…
The Art Kits project was originally created by Oakwood Arts in response to Richmond Public Schools (RPS) closing as a result of COVID-19 in March 2020. Oakwood Arts' primary goal is to serve our community, and we worked tirelessly during the pandemic to continue making art and creative careers accessible to all through new projects, resources, and partnerships. Oakwood Arts independently packed and distributed more than 600 kits through RPS distribution sites before joining forces with the Visual Arts Center of Richmond (VisArts) to assemble and design even more arts-focused activity kits (now called Creativity Kits) for RPS students and families.
