Oakwood Arts internships are tailored to the interests and skills of the individual intern and the needs of the organization during the internship period. Internships range from 5 - 12 hrs/week and are unpaid, but can be done for school credit.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Main Supervisor: Programs Coordinator

Will also serve as support for: Executive Director, Operations Director, Administrative Assistant + Development Manager

Qualifications

  • Oakwood Arts is looking for an intern with experience in Photography to assist in the documentation of programs and events.

  • The ideal candidate is motivated, able to handle multiple kinds of tasks, has a passion for working in a non-profit setting, enjoys working around kids, and has an interest in helping to create opportunities for young creatives.

Photo Intern will:

• Be present and photograph for in-person programs + events

• Produce and edit photography content for social media to promote growth

• Actively engage in brainstorming sessions with staff and other interns

• Collaborate with other interns and Oakwood Arts Staff to understand the organization’s vision through brochures, newsletters, and other forms of communications for distribution

• Assist in maintaining the photo library for Oakwood Arts, organizing and performing metadata and photo archiving functions

• Support in the running of Oakwood Arts photobooths for partner organizations

• Have opportunities to mentor students through our photo-related programs

• Serve as support for OA program staff in the coordination of programming, including arts + technology classes and community programming (Art Kit Program, Photography programs, and/or our Creative Workforce Development program)

 

NON-PROFIT MANAGEMENT
& General Administrative Support

Main Supervisor: Administrative Assistant + Development Manager

Will also serve as support for: Executive Director, Development Manager, Operations Director

Qualifications

  • Oakwood Arts is looking for an intern with an interest in Nonprofit Administration, Development and/or Fundraising. This position will work directly with our Operations and Development Team with the day-to-day administrative operations to support the success of the organization.

  • The ideal candidate is motivated, able to handle multiple kinds of tasks, has a passion for working in a nonprofit setting, and has an interest in helping to create opportunities for young creatives in Richmond.

Non-Profit Management Intern will:

  • Assist the operations team with day to day maintenance of of the organization

  • General research and filing tasks as assigned to assist with general operations of the organization.

  • Research potential funding opportunities, work with Development Team to maintain an updated database of potential funders

  • Carry out assigned tasks in support of fundraising events and activities, including online events

  • Attend weekly staff meetings with leadership and staff

  • Opportunity to make a significant impact on Oakwood Arts’ mission by engaging in research, helping to plan and coordinate virtual events, assisting in day-to-day operations, and other administrative duties.

FILMMAKING

  • The ideal candidate is motivated, able to handle multiple kinds of tasks, has a passion for working in a non-profit setting, enjoys working around kids, and has an interest in helping to create opportunities for young creatives.

Film Intern will:

GRAPHIC DESIGN

Main Supervisor: Programs Coordinator + Development Manager

Will also serve as support for: Executive Director, Operations Director, Administrative Assistant

Qualifications

  • Oakwood Arts is looking for an intern with experience in Graphic Design to assist in the organization's overall brand, and marketing and social media campaigns.

  • The ideal candidate is motivated, able to handle multiple kinds of tasks, has a passion for working in a non-profit setting (in a virtual office environment), and has an interest in helping to create opportunities for

    young creatives.

Graphic Design Intern will:

  • Work with Oakwood Arts staff to collaboratively develop concepts and visual designs for traditional campaigns, print materials, event collateral, website, email marketing, digital advertising, social media, etc.

  • Execute project objectives with creative, visually compelling graphics under tight deadlines

  • Assist the Oakwood Arts team in crafting compelling stories through graphics, copy, video, animation, illustration, and photography.

  • Utilize Adobe Programs to assist in the editing and updating of new and existing marketing collateral

  • Work collaboratively to support day-to-day content deliverables

  • Be a part of planning out and coordinating social media campaigns for fundraising an programs

  • Assist with implement strategies to promote awareness of the organization and upcoming programs + events
