ABOUT THIS YEAR’S EVENT
We are thrilled to announce Oakwood Arts’ fifth annual summer benefit event, SOLSTICE V. This year, for the first time, we will hold SOLSTICE at our newly renovated home at 3511 P Street and will celebrate Oakwood Arts’ fifth anniversary! As always SOLSTICE will be featuring a live art auction of works by local and nationally recognized artists.
Our first SOLSTICE event in June 2018 represented the beginning of our organization’s journey to help make art and creative careers accessible to all. It is time to celebrate our milestones and look ahead at how our organization can grow and serve even more students, families, artists, and community members.
We invite you to join us in our newly-updated space, which includes 20-foot ceilings, new stained glass windows, and a new, spacious deck! We've come a long way since 2018 and can't wait for you to see it.
This year's MCs/Auctioneers will be Kelli Lemon and S. Ross Browne, music by DJ Mikemetic, and catering provided by Soul N' Vinegar.

Special curated box/experience: Mending WALLS
One of the highlights of SOLSTICE each year is our artist-curated boxes. This year's box will represent the Mending Walls project and its impact on our community at large. The Mending Walls box will include unique items and artifacts from participating artists such as Mahari Chabwera, Barry O'Keefe, Hamilton Glass, & Matt Lively.
Previous years’ boxes have notably been curated by high-profile artists and curators such as Valerie Cassel Oliver, Sonya Clark, Paul Rucker, Hank Willis Thomas, and Rashid Johnson.
