East End Film Society
Join us every 2nd Thursday of the Month : 18+
East End Film Society will be a uniquely curated platform with short films by local filmmakers and feature-length films of their choice every month, for free. Selected filmmakers and their films may vary in genre and length but all celebrate diverse and original voices. After every screening, we provide exciting access to guest speakers and conversations from all levels of the film and television industry. In addition to being a fun and free monthly gathering for anyone interested in filmmaking, the East End Film society will be a place for emerging filmmakers to share new projects, network with industry professionals, and receive valuable feedback from peers and members of our community.
Hosted by Jasmine Elmore, a multi-media installation artist and filmmaker, presently working on Swagger Season 2 as a Camera PA. She was introduced to Oakwood Arts in October of 2021 when she joined the OAJet program and has continued working with Oakwood as a Production Coordinator and mentor following her graduation. Outside of her career, Jasmine’s work extends to an eclectic range of mediums including photography, soundscape development, painting, sculpture, animation, writing, and craft studies. Jasmine’s love for film/video production derives from the ability to blend a range of art forms into one, this interest is reflected in her knowledge of film history and theoretical film concepts that she will be bringing to discussions during the East End Film Society.
