SCHOOLWORK SUPPORT TUTORS
Are you interested in supporting your community by becoming a tutor?
During this virtual school year, we are looking for supportive tutors to assist families with their child’s individual learning goals, and help to navigate online schooling. Our mentors will assist 3rd-12th grade students virtually with subjects including, Reading, English/Language Arts, Math, and Science, as well as technical support for the challenges that come with online learning. We will equip our tutors with creative tools and activities that support the RPS curriculum as a way of encouraging hands-on learning, incorporating art and creative problem solving into students' work, all using an integrated STEAM approach.
Our Schoolwork Support Tutors should be able to commit to six weekly hour-long sessions with an individual student, and will be matched with a student based on the child’s needs and the tutor’s individual skill set.
All Schoolwork Support Tutors are required to complete a background check through Sterling Volunteers to be eligible for the volunteer position.
Once we have received your application we will contact you as soon as possible with a link to a background check.
An ✓2 Advanced Criminal Locator Check will be conducted on you.
There is a $17 fee to run the background check which will be completed within 72 hrs and will be good for one year.
If you already have completed a background check through this platform for another organization please log in to your account and forward a copy of your background check to liana@oakwoodarts.org
