SINCEREST thanks to all who joined us for our second-EVER, SOLD OUT benefit auction
It's hard to believe that our second annual benefit art auction is already over. Thanks to all involved, this year's event has cemented the solstice's status as one of the most special nights of the year for us.

SOLSTICE 2019 saw us auction off 25 works of art by acclaimed artists from around the block and around the world; 3 museum tour experience packages led by curators Valerie Cassel Oliver, William Martin, Sarah Eckhardt, and Amber Esseiva themselves; 2 hand-curated raffle boxes from artists Rashid Johnson and Hank Willis Thomas; and 1 Candela Books + Gallery artist book bundle. We dined & drank with Churchill favorites Soul N' Vinegar and the Roosevelt, respectively; we danced with DJ Mikemetic in the Cosmic Lounge; got joshed by auctioneer Sebastian Clarke; and made new friends, new partnerships, new patrons, and so much more.
Our amazing co-chairs for the 2019 auction were:
Paige Goodpasture — Co-Founder of LookSEE
Enjoli Moon — Film Curator at the new Institute for Contemporary Art, Richmond, VA
Jennifer Rissler — Dean of Academic Affairs at the San Francisco Art Institute
Gordon Stettinius — Director of Candela Gallery, Richmond, VA
LIVE AUCTION ARTISTS
SILENT AUCTION ARTISTS
The Silent Auction featured work from Oakwood Arts mentors and volunteers. Emerging artists who work closely with Oakwood Arts as mentors and volunteers in their arts + technology programs were represented in the silent auction portion of the event.
We were thrilled to have a selection of work from these rising stars curated by the ICA's Assistant Curator, Amber Esseiva.
SOLSTICE 2019 RAFFLE
Oakwood Arts invited renowned artists Rashid Johnson and Hank Willis Thomas to each curate the contents of a customized box for supporters of Oakwood Arts that were raffled off and revealed at SOLSTICE 2019. Congratulations to the lucky winners!
